ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

Some time ago, I saw on the inner label of a polo-shirt, "ONE SIZE FITS ALL". That actally triggered a thought process that made me wonder to what extent that could be true. Having also seen that inscription on the label of other clothing items like caps, but couldn't find it on trousers, shirts, belts and shoes, that led me to draw the conclusion that though on some items, one size might fit all but on other items, one size definitely does not fit all.

In the world of gadgets and devices, one size definitely does not fit all because the reason why people buy and use the device they use vary from person to person. At the same time, I would also say that one size does not fit all because one device cannot meet all your needs no matter how hard you try. Having experienced some device related frustrations in the past, I would love to advice, try to use the device for the specific purpose it was built. For instance, your mobile phone might have the ability to view PDF documents, that doesn't mean that you can use it to read through a 1300 page book.

Your android tablet device has almost all the capabilities of a PC, but ofcourse it does not run windows and as such quit trying to make it into a windows PC.

Your android phone might have hotspot functionality and you can share your data subscription with a few wifi devices around, but that does not justify trying to turn it into an ISP(internet service provider).

The tablet in your hands might accept a sim-card and it has calling ability, that does not make it a phone for everyday calls. If you doubt it, try using a Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 which has calling abilities as your primary mobile phone and go everywhere with it. I'm sure you will get tired of pulling out that monster everytime it rings. For some people, it might even make you feel like a freak.

What I'm saying in all is, do not look for one device that will solve all your digital problems, rather, purchase every device that is specialized in each area of your need. For instance, if you need a PC, buy an ultrabook or a netbook. If you need a digital camera, buy a digital camera. And if you need a phone, go ahead and buy a phone for the sake of the fact that its a phone. That is because "ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL".
